Rachael Umahi Biography

Rachael Umahi was born on March 23, 1972, in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Chukwu and Eunice Akpa of Umuobuna, Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Rachael, while growing up, attended Umuobuna/Uhuaba Community Primary School, Uburu, and then moved to Immaculate Girls Secondary School Aba, Abia State, where she obtained her West African School Certificate (WASC).

Mrs Umahi graduated from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.

Career

Rachael Umahi worked in the business sector in the area of human and resource management before she got married.

Her husband, Dave Umahi, was deputy governor of Ebonyi State between 2011 and 2015 and later became governor from 2015 to 2023. This made Rachael Umahi the first lady of Ebonyi State.

During her time as First Lady, she participated in countless humanitarian and welfare services to assist the poor and made a good name for herself and her family.

Mrs Umahi is the founder of the Family Succour and Upliftment Foundation Programme, which has redefined philanthropy, charity, and selfless service to humanity.

Some time ago, during her tenure as the first lady of Ebonyi State, she was voted as the most performing first lady in the country.

Rachael Umahi is married to David Nweze Umahi, a Nigerian politician who is popularly referred to as Dave Umahi.

Her husband currently serves as the minister of works for Nigeria after being appointed by President Bola Tinubu on August 16, 2023. Dave Umahi has previously served as He previously served as the senator representing Ebonyi South senatorial district, governor of Ebonyi State, and deputy governor.
