Mariya Aliko Dangote is the youngest daughter of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote. Mariya was born in the 1980s and grew up with two other sisters, Fatima Dangote and Halima Dangote.

She is a native of Kano State, Nigeria. But due to business, she mostly resides in Lagos, where her father’s business is based.

Her mother, Zainab Dangote, got married to Aliko Dangote in 1977, when he was still starting his career. Although she was his first wife, the marriage ended with a divorce.

Mariya was named after her maternal grandmother, who went by the name Mariya Dangote (nee Dantata).

At the time, there were no public announcements of how much Mariya was being paid at the company. However, there are claims that the average salary for her position was between ₦3 million and ₦15 million per annum.

In 2023, the Board of Directors of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc announced that Mariya Aliko Dangote had been appointed as an Executive Director on the Board of the Company.

Mariya is also on the board of Dangote – Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN). A company that is jointly owned by the Dangote Group and five northern states.
