The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has kicked off the second phase of the 1 Youth 2 Skills Solution Initiative.
Soludo launched the initiative on Thursday at the International Convention Centre, Awka, Anambra capital.
The goal of the initiative is to empower the youth in Anambra by teaching them skills in order to eradicate hunger and bring about lasting change.
During the first phase, the state government trained 5,000 youths in different helpful vocational skills through the “Igba Boi” apprenticeship/mentorship program.
According to Soludo, “many of these young individuals are now empowered and are even providing employment opportunities to others.”
“Our aim is to transform Anambra into the premier skills hub, equipping our youth with skills that are both employable and exportable.”
While speaking at the launch, the governor also revealed that a total of 183,000 were received in this second batch. Out of this figure, over 8000 people were selected to receive the training due to limited spaces.
At the end of the training, N2.5 billion of start-up capital will be disbursed to the batch.
