How Many Nigerians Celebrated 2024 Christmas with Deaths

Nigeria and many other countries celebrated Christmas on December 25th, 2024. The celebration was a nationwide holiday and a season of love and happiness.

On that day, there was not just one reported tragedy, but multiple. The first and most tragic happened when a bus driver lost control of his vehicle in Gombe thereby crashing into Christian faithfuls.

The incident happened around 2 pm at the popular IMAN Restaurant on Bauchi Road. The victims of the accident were in a procession from the Tumfure community to the Government House and Gombe Emir’s Palace for Christmas homage.

At least 22 persons were fatally injured. These are individuals who woke up and decided to celebrate Christmas.

Nobody knows tomorrow, and this proves that we need to be prepared for anything as we go about our daily lives.

Another report of a tragic event on Christmas was the death of some villagers in Sokoto communities after fighter jets mistakenly bombed two communities in the Silame local government area of Sokoto State.

The incident occurred at around 7 am on Christmas day. According to reports, the affected communities were Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa villages.

“No fewer than 10 villagers were killed with several others sustaining various degrees of injuries during the airstrikes.”

In Lagos, there were reports of accidents, but no loss of life was reported. The accident was caused by the collision of two commercial buses at Iyana-Era inward Agbara along the Mile 2-Badagry Expressway in Lagos.
