The former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commended the Nigerian security agencies for their recent achievements in the fight against terrorism, kidnappings, and banditry.
Obi, in a statement, praised the courage and professionalism of officers and men who, he said, often operate under very difficult conditions to protect the lives and property of the people.
He urged government authorities to provide the security forces with improved equipment, training, and welfare packages to enable them sustain the gains recorded so far.
The former Anambra State governor, also stressed the need for justice and accountability in the war against insecurity, warning that recycling arrested criminals back into society without due process only fuels impunity.
According to Obi, lasting peace can only be achieved when perpetrators of violent crimes face the full weight of the law.
