Peter Obi Explains Why He Missed Buhari’s Burial, Cites Flight Restrictions

The former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has shared reasons why he was absent at the burial of late president Muhammadu Buhari.

Obi cited logistical challenges as his reason for not meeting up with the schedules for the burial.

According to a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Obi stated that he had paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Awujale of Ijebuland in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, yesterday morning, and tried to be in Daura, Katsina State but all efforts proved abortive.

He also revealed that he sent a message to a member of late President Buhari’s family explaining his situation while promising to be present the following day.

Today, Obi, accompanied by Senators Ireti Kingibe, Okey Ezea, and Obidient National Coordinator Dr. Tanko Yunusa, visited Daura to pay their last respects alongside Vice President Shettima, Former Vice President Atiku, Senate President Akpabio, Governor Radda of Katsina, Governor Zulum of Borno State, and many other dignitaries.
